What you'll be doing Our Operational Communications Centre (OCC) receives a high volume of calls a year and operates 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.
The Centre provides high-level communications support to our 43 Rural Fire Districts across NSW in the form of call receipt and dispatch.
Our centre can accommodate a team of up to 25 operators, who work on a varied and rotating roster, which includes night shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
The OCC team is responsible for receiving, interpreting, and responding to emergency and routine calls for assistance, such as fire-related incidents, motor vehicle accidents, and oil spills.
They also operate the Bush Fire Information Line and AIDER program requests, as well as supporting functions within the State Operations Centre.
This requires the dissemination of relevant information, dispatching appropriate resources, and monitoring responses to incidents through effective telephone and radio communication and data entry.
The role of the Senior Operational Communications Officer oversees and mentors a team of Operational Communications Officers on shift.
As our ideal candidate, you'll have the ability to remain calm, dynamic, and flexible in a high-pressure and fast-paced environment.
Your computer skills along with highly competent communication ability will be essential to the role.
