$98,528 - $117,647 + 15.4% super Canberra, but other locations considered Full-time Ongoing ABOUT THE ROLE Are you eager to work on tangible outcomes that will shape the global maritime sector and protect our environment?
The Environment Policy and Standards team is seeking Senior Officers to help shape Australia's domestic and international efforts to protect the marine environment from the impacts of shipping.
The Senior Officer will make policy recommendations on international maritime pollution issues, assist in the development of environment protection policy and regulations for the maritime sector and support implementation of international maritime pollution prevention conventions in Australia.
Working collaboratively with stakeholders, the Senior Officer will use their communication, policy and regulatory skills to develop Australia's position at International Maritime Organization meetings, educate stakeholders on domestic and international policies and regulations, and identify emerging environmental issues associated with the maritime sector.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE To be successful in this position, you will have the following skills and experience: Demonstrated ability to understand, develop and administer policy, legislation and international conventions, preferably in relation to maritime environment protection, or an ability to quickly gain this knowledge.
Demonstrated ability to undertake research and analysis, synthesising complex information to develop policy and regulatory options or advice.
Demonstrated ability to prepare briefings and presentations on complex issues for high level meetings.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively with others as part of a team and effectively engage with stakeholders.
Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or equivalent work experience, preferably in a policy or regulatory role.
Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment and deliver results to a high standard in a timely manner.
