About the Business Unit: The Department of Justice and Community Safety (the department) delivers a justice and community safety system that works to build a safer, fairer and stronger Victoria. The People Safety, Culture and Communications (PSCC) group provides a range of services across the employee lifecycle to ensure the department has a workforce that is flexible, highly skilled, safe and representative of the community it serves. PSCC is responsible for human resources, payroll, recruitment, occupational health and safety, industrial relations, learning and development, diversity and inclusion and employment regulations.
The Transformation, Development and Capability business unit is responsible for transformation and learning and development to support employees.
About the Role: The Senior Officer Learning and Capability is a member of the Department of Justice and Community Safety within the People, Safety, Culture and Communications team.
Some of your duties will include:
Delivering training for Youth Justice staff, including foundational and professional development programs such as Operational Safety Training. Collaborating with team members to develop Training and Assessment Strategies for all nationally recognised training as required. Supporting enrolled staff to achieve the Certificate IV in Youth Justice through coaching, assessment and feedback. About You: As our ideal candidate, you will possess:
The ability to lead engaging group and individual training sessions to achieve targeted learning outcomes with strong leadership skills to guide and mentor trainees, fostering a culture of professional growth and continuous learning. Knowledge of managing critical incidents, staff deployment, and youth worker skills to support effective training strategies. Skills in assessing learners for nationally recognized qualifications, ensuring assessments meet competency standards and compliance requirements. Proficiency in Nexus, including recording attendance, creating new course events, printing attendance sheets, assigning training and conducting reporting. The successful candidate will be required to undergo pre-employment checks which may include reference checks, national police checks and misconduct screening.
