About the Keeping Kids in No Distress (KKIND) service: The KKIND (Keeping Kids in No Distress) Team provides assessment, intervention and clinical review for children who are experiencing anxiety and distress related to illness, injury or hospitalisation and promote trauma informed care throughout the hospital.
Based at Perth Children's Hospital, our dedicated team work closely with medical, surgical, nursing, and allied health teams to make the hospital environment more manageable for children through integrating KKIND principles with routine care across the hospital, providing statewide service to children aged 0–16 years and their families.
We offer extra support and guidance, monitoring and referrals to specialised assistance where required.
Families are encouraged to participate in their child's care, and we offer resources and clinical support throughout their hospital stay.
About the Complex Pain Service: The Complex Pain Service operates within the Perth Children's Hospital as an outpatient service.

These young patients and families can be referred to our service as part of a collaborative and interdisciplinary approach to their rehabilitation journey.
When children endure persistent, unresolved pain, it often impacts their physical, social, and emotional well-being.
A cornerstone of our service is a comprehensive Interdisciplinary Team Assessment (IDT) by medical specialists and allied health teams focused on gaining an in-depth understanding of the unique health journey of each child and their family.
The Interdisciplinary approach to assessment helps us to understand how pain is impacting each family, enabling an individualised management plan that takes into account a bio-psychosocial understanding of pain, relationships, function, and their combined influence on overall well-being.
