The Office of the Chief Nursing and Midwifery Officer (OCNMO) is responsible for the provision of professional policy and strategic leadership for the nursing and midwifery professions within ACT Health Directorate, Canberra Health Services and across the Territory; collaborating and providing advice to the ACT Government regarding nursing and midwifery related matters. The OCNMO also assists in the delivery of workforce reforms, workforce planning, professional education; strengthening and developing nursing and midwifery services through innovative models of care and service delivery; representing the ACT Government and ACT health system at national forums; and ensuring the future capability of the nursing and midwifery professions.An exciting opportunity has become available in the OCNMO for a Senior Nursing Advisor who will be responsible for providing strategic leadership and advice to the Chief Nursing and Midwifery Officer (CNMO) across local, national and international issues relating to the nursing profession in a government setting. The role is responsible for providing strategic leadership and direction to achieve agreed outcomes of the business work plan, including understanding all relevant legislation, policy and strategy, in the context of the nursing profession and aligned to working within the context of government. Although this role provides a strategic focus on nursing, it will be required to lead strategic policy where it intersects across nursing and midwifery.This opportunity will suit you if you are a systems-thinker, have a strategic and curious mindset and are excited by the opportunity to be engaged in significant territory-wide change positively impacting ACT public health services and the nursing workforce more broadly.
