About the role The Senior Network and Communication Specialist is a technical lead, responsible for the design, planning and coordination of a range of ICT projects. The role will significantly contribute to the effective administration, development, implementation and support activities required to achieve accessibility, availability and integrity of network and communications systems managed by the Networks Services Team.
In addition, this position will, under broad direction from the Senior Network and Communications Administrator (Team Leader), engage with vendors, third parties and other organisational groups within UNE to investigate and implement new designs or technologies that provide a best fit capability for the University.
About you To be successful in this role, you will have:
Proven skills and experience utilising the University's current networking and firewall vendors Extreme Networks (EXOS and VOSS) and Palo Alto Networks NextGen FWs. Applicants with skills and experience in one or more of these vendors will be highly regarded.Proven skills and experience in configuring and maintaining applications such as RADIUS, DNS and DHCP, as well as vendor management systems XMC/XIQ (Extreme Networks) and Panorama (Palo Alto Networks) will be highly regarded.Our ideal candidate will have both people and technical skills. We are looking for someone who can provide superior customer service to the Group's stakeholders/clients as well as advanced troubleshooting skills to effectively resolve complex problems and apply innovative solutions. They will have solid relevant experience which will include network administration, project/contract management, technical systems analysis and design, technical writing, systems implementation, integration, testing and/or procurement. The ability to prioritise, work as part of a team, liaise and negotiate with a diverse group of people are essential to be successful in the role.About the Faculty/Group Technology and Digital Services (TDS) provide information and technology services to the whole of UNE to support all digital activities within UNE. It provides knowledge and leadership to support the academic, research and service activities of the University by deploying IT resources, either centrally or dispersed, across the University. TDS works closely with the university community to understand and support their needs in meeting the university's strategic objectives.
