About the role: In this role the Senior Modeller will be responsible for creating & maintaining complex water (hydro-dynamic & quality) models and odour & corrosion (O&C) models and providing technical input into model creation projects, need specification development, design, delivery and operationalising of new complex models. The role also provides technical advice & support for the assurance and stewardship of the end-to-end modelling process, including business support of their respective modelling platforms & tools.
About you: An Engineering and/or Science degree qualification with 5+ years' experience or proven equivalent industry experience Strong understanding of complex model services, practices and procedures Effective leadership, management, and interpersonal skills Strong verbal and written communication & negotiation skills Strong engineering or science background particularly relevant to water industry Strong project management skills including organisation, planning & execution to meet project milestones and also SLA deadlines for modelling outputs Strong knowledge and experience with technical input into model creation projects, including need specification development, design, delivery, operationalisation, and acceptance of new complex models Strong working experience in the use of complex models to assess system/asset performance, identify performance gaps, set performance targets and benchmarks, then make recommendations that balances cost, risk and outcomes in an efficient & sustainable way Strong technical expertise in managing the creation and maintenance of complex models for use as a planning support tool to undertake servicing strategies, detailed planning (options reports), investment plans, renewals need assessments (and sizing), operational / shutdown planning, investigation of complaints, compliance reporting etc Strong experience in understanding/interpreting business needs and outcomes using modelling platforms/tools to provide information and advice to strategists, planners, and other information consumers Strong knowledge of statistics and demonstrated experience using statistical packages for analysing large datasets (Excel, SPSS, SAS etc) Why our team like working at Sydney Water: Huge multi-billion-dollar program of work which shapes Australia's busiest and largest city.
