About the role
Reporting to the Open Pit Manager, the Senior Mining Engineer will provide short, medium and long-term planning for Open Pit mining operations for Genesis Minerals.
The opportunity
Assist in establishing mine technical services systems, processes, systems and standards, to deliver robust mine planning functions for the Genesis Open Pits. The systems established must include consultation with all technical service departments including geology and surveying. Complete pit optimization using software and development of 3 month and 18-month mine plans. Conduct long term scheduling (>1 year) and provide conceptual designs to support recommended strategies. Review and optimise 'Life of Mine' designs and construct detailed execution schedules using appropriate data to clearly identify key milestones profiles. Ensure planning in-put assumptions are reviewed for accuracy for future planning confidence. Ensure that mine infrastructure requirements are adequately accounted for in all mine schedules and that infrastructure projects are comprehensively scoped, specified, procured, resourced and installed as required by the mine schedule. Consult with the geology team and to ensure drill programs are adequately accounted for within the mine schedules to allow for a detailed review of results prior to development of program target areas. Develop mine designs and schedules to support the achievement of medium- and long-term plans. Assist with budget production and the development of schedules for the Open Pit Operations. Consult with production personnel to ensure production plans are executed effectively to optimise ore extraction. Mentor and provide technical leadership to Open Pit Mining Engineers. Ensure SMART Objectives and Development plans are in place for all direct reports. Communicate regularly with operating personnel to ensure production plans are executed effectively to optimise ore extraction. Maintain regular contact with the mining team and be aware of daily operational activities. Ensure compliance with all relevant acts, legislation, company standards and ethical standards. Ensure the technical content of all mine designs and plans comply with the standards of the WHS (Mines) Regulation and the Company. Prepare operational and project cost estimates and monitor equipment utilisation. What you can expect from us

Operational site-based mining experience (ideally Gold) and the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic production environment. Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering or a related discipline. 2+ years' experience in an Open Pit Mine Planning role. Technical expertise in relation to Open Pit mine design, drill and blast, optimisation and planning. Expert user of Microsoft Office – Excel. Proficient with computer scheduling software (Deswick, Surpac, etc.). Sound knowledge of statutory safety requirements relevant to mining. Unrestricted Quarry Manager's Ticket (desirable) .
