Company Summary:
Yarrabee Coal Mine is a structurally complex truck and shovel operation that is situated on the eastern edge of the Bowen Basin deposits. The mine has been operational since the early 1980's and has been wholly owned by Yancoal since 2009. The mine is currently undergoing major development over the next 5 years with a current Major EA amendment underway to extend the life of the operation out to 2070 (currently 2037) and the opening of 3 new mining areas.
Yarrabee is looking to increase its production over the coming 3-5 years from 3.0 mtpa ROM to 4.0 mtpa ROM which will be achieved through optimised mine design, targeting new areas of the deposit and striving for best practice productivity and efficiencies. With their commitment to the mine development, Yarrabee has made the commitment to rebuilding the Technical Services team onsite with the focus on engaging high performing permanent personnel. This will ensure Yarrabee can continue to invest into these team members through further training and development, which will create a Technical Services Excellence team.
Mine Site Operation Summary:
The operation is currently truck constrained with a focus on haulage optimisation to deliver the best outcome over the forward plan. The geological complexity at Yarrabee offers many challenges to overcome with complex modelling, geotechnical design, through seam blasting and high intensity operation within limited pit strike. The operation is primarily owner operated with the only contractors being blast hole drilling, explosive supply and major maintenance shutdowns. Yarrabee also owns all its primary equipment fleet including:

2 x Liebherr 996B
19 x Komatsu 830E
6 x Hitachi EH5000's
Position Responsibilities:
Report to Mine Planning Superintendent
Deliver the annual Budget 5YP and Life of Mine Processes
Ensure stakeholder engagement with CHPP, Maintenance, Mining and Technical Services (STP) is paramount to ensure a robust and optimised plan is delivered
Communicate the planned outputs to key stakeholders
Delivery of the monthly SRF process utilising the front 3MP from the STP Engineer and maintaining a rolling 18 month schedule
Development and optimisation of site dump strategies and haulage models
LOM & 5YP Equipment strategies
Position Requirements:
A bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or in a related engineering discipline is required, ideally with RPEQ or eligible to obtain it.
Demonstrated technical ability in strategic open pit mine planning.
Solid people management skills and experience in roles where influencing people is a critical skill.
Strong user in SPRY Scheduling, Haulage & Deswik Reserving processes.
Highly developed skills in mine design and scheduling.
Highly developed analytical and problem-solving skills.
Proven ability to undertake methodical, accurate and timely analysis of data and other information.
Given the nature of this role, additional flexibility around the work location is available. You could potentially work on site 50% of the time and the other 50% working from home.
