We are seeking a strong Senior Mining Engineer to join our underground team at the historic Mt Charlotte Underground mine located at KCGM, Kalgoorlie.
This role can either be Kalgoorlie residential or FIFO for the ideal candidate on an 8:6 roster, working 12-hour shifts.
This challenging and dynamic role will enable an experienced Senior Mining Engineer to lead a technical team of scheduling, drill and blast and graduate engineers, driving safe production from the operational team. Northern Star Resources has breathed life back into Mt Charlotte increasing the reserve base to over 1M ounces. There are multiple mining methods, Avoca, Modified Avoca, Bulk open stoping and Sub level caving to sink your teeth into. The asset is continuing to grow which is the ideal time for a candidate to join who also wants to grow their career.
Key accountabilities: Lead and co-ordinate drill & blast and ancillary designs for the mining engineers in line with the weekly plan.Providing guidance and coaching to the Scheduling Engineers.Main point of contact to the Underground Mine Foreman for planning and executing the weekly plan and holding the technical team accountable.Responsible for managing stope reconciliation, highlighting areas of risk and opportunities.Accountability to ensure blast vibration monitoring, recording, and reporting is compliant with site and statutory requirements of site.Contribute and support the Underground Manager in facilitating DEMIRS visits, inspections, and investigations.Cover Alternate Underground Manager functionality as required and utilise knowledge to provide statutory guidance to the operation.Requirements: Tertiary qualification in Mining EngineeringMinimum of 5 years UG hard rock mining experienceExperience using Deswik CAD and Scheduler packagesAdvanced Microsoft Office skillsStrong leadership skills and experience leading a diverse team of new-to-industry engineersAbility to hold themselves and others accountable to their roles and responsibilitiesCurrent Unencumbered Western Australian "C" Class Drivers LicencePreferred: First Class Mine Managers Certificate of CompetencyExperience working with a mining contractorExperience in a mine that utilises Sub Level Caving, Modified Avoca or Sub Level Open StopingUnderground Mine Rescue ExperienceExperience using Power BIDiscover the perks of working at Northern Star: Company subsidised GU Health Insurance.Gold Price Variable bonus incentive.Employee Share Plan programs.Gold standard parental leave policy.GoldSTARR rewards program - cash savings for everyday expenses.Employee Assistance Programs (EAP) that includes free, confidential counselling and wellbeing services.Salary continuance (income protection) insurance from commencement.Salary sacrificing benefits, including novated leasing and remote area living benefit options.Eligibility:
