The Site The company's underground gold mining operation, located just 20 km northeast of Kalgoorlie in Western Australia, has been in operation for over 50 years. With a life of mine exceeding 40 years, the site is deep and presents exciting challenges. The mine is expanding significantly, employing mining methods such as sub-level caving, modified Avoca, and long-hole stoping, offering abundant opportunities for career growth and professional development.
The Roster & Location Residential in Kalgoorlie: The role offers a 9-day fortnight roster (5:2; 4:3) with 10-hour shifts, based in Kalgoorlie-Boulder, WA, with company-provided accommodation or a residential allowance for those relocating within a 30-minute radius of the site. Relocation assistance is available for those moving to Kalgoorlie-Boulder.
FIFO from Perth: The role also offers an 8:6 roster with 12-hour shifts, based in Kalgoorlie-Boulder, WA, with FIFO flights from Perth (other cities to be confirmed).
Duties and Responsibilities As a Senior Mining Engineer, reporting to the Alternate Underground Manager, you will play a pivotal role in leading and coordinating the technical team, while ensuring the safe and efficient execution of the weekly mining plan. You will have the opportunity to lead a group of skilled Scheduling Engineers, guide the team through challenging and diverse mining methods, and ensure alignment with operational goals. Key responsibilities include:
Lead and coordinate drill and blast, as well as ancillary designs, ensuring alignment with the weekly plan.Provide guidance and coaching to Scheduling Engineers, ensuring optimal planning execution.Act as the main point of contact for the Underground Mine Foreman, holding the technical team accountable.Oversee stope reconciliation, identifying areas of risk and opportunity.Ensure compliance with site and statutory requirements, particularly with blast vibration monitoring and reporting.Support the Underground Manager in facilitating inspections, investigations, and DEMIRS visits.Provide coverage for the Alternate Underground Manager role when required, offering statutory guidance based on your expertise.About the Opportunity This is an exciting opportunity for a Senior Mining Engineer to take their career to the next level.
