If this sounds like something you want to be involved in, we are now looking for a Senior Mine Engineer – Projects to join the Projects Team and help advance the development of underground and open pit mining projects.
The role is permanent, based in our Perth Office on a Monday – Friday roster, with occasional site travel. We believe in balancing life and work and are happy to support flexible working arrangements.
About the OpportunityReporting to the Project Development Manager, you will be responsible for:
Generate, maintain, and optimise mine designs and schedules, including practical designs for new mining areas including the type of infrastructure and development required.Compare different mining methods and assess the impact on the economic viability of the projects.Review, update, and maintain financial models that are used for project economic evaluations.Consult with relevant internal and external stakeholders to ensure sufficient information is gathered to support the generation of mine studies.Support the generation and reporting of ore reserves.This position will be predominantly focused on underground mining activities and projects; however, exposure to open pit mining activities will be required. This position requires interacting with the Black Cat Board and Executive team.
About YouYou will have a tertiary degree in Mining Engineering or equivalent, with experience in underground mining and exposure to working in a corporate environment advantageous. Additionally, you should have:
Strong experience in mine planning and a range of mining methods encompassing most aspects of underground mine engineering.Expert user of mine planning and scheduling software packages, preferably Datamine (Mineable Shape Optimiser, Studio UG, EPS). Deswik experience is transferable.Experience in capital projects including mine infrastructure design and cost estimation across a wide range of mining activities and support services.Exposure to various roles such as drill and blast, ventilation, scheduling, planning or projects, and infrastructure is highly regarded.Western Australian First Class Mine Manager's Certificate of Competency, while not necessary, would be advantageous.You will need to have lateral and unconstrained thinking skills with demonstrated initiative and an ability to work independently and within a team. Good interpersonal and communication skills with a collaborative attitude are a must.
