Both positions available About the role In conjunction with the Team Leader, the senior mental health clinician's role will provide clinical leadership in developing clinical expertise within the team through mentoring, teaching, supervising and contributing to the organisation of the day to day operational functioning of the team.
Key accountabilities: Proactive clinical leadership and participation in the clinical activities of a multidisciplinary clinical team. Expertise in the provision of evidence-based and best practice. A level of expertise commensurate with the role and years of experience.The facilitation of the clinical team meetings, coordination of the clinical case reviews, and daily operational coordination with appropriate delegation of responsibilities as needed.Provide direct and indirect support for complex presentations within the team and carry a caseload in consideration of other portfolio responsibilities.About the role The Youth Mental Health Service (YMHS) provides timely access to secondary consultation, comprehensive mental health assessment, early intervention and evidence-based treatment for young people aged 15 to 25 years, their families and other services within the community.
The mental health clinician provides comprehensive and proficient bio-psycho-social clinical assessments and treatments to youth and their families that are evidence-based and/or best practice to enhance the young person's recovery from mental disorder.
Clinicians who undertake a career with Youth Mental Health Service will find the role is both challenging and rewarding, with exposure to a wide range of mental health disorders and treatments.
 Key Responsibilities Undertake comprehensive mental health assessments, identify and prioritise patient and family needs and/or referral options.Clinically treat patients as the primary treating clinician within a multi- disciplinary team that emphasises, practices and continually seeks to improve patient-centred, family-inclusive, community-based, evidence-based and best practices.Develop, administer, implement and review clinical treatment plans that target identified biological, psychological, and social needs of patients and their families and include targeted evidence-based treatment strategies consistent with GH-MHS policies, procedures and discipline- specific standards.Evaluate the effects of implemented treatment of all patients and their families.Demonstrate knowledge and skills in daily clinical practice with respect to the routine, active involvement of families in the delivery of clinical treatments.Skills and experience Ideally the candidate will have experience working in a Community Mental Health teamHigh levels of assessment skillsExperience working within a multi-disciplinary teamAbility to work both independently and within a team structure.Clinicians who undertake a career with Youth Mental Health Service will find the role is both challenging and rewarding, with exposure to a wide range of mental health disorders and treatments.
