About Mental Health, Drug and Alcohol Services (MHDAS) MHDAS provides integrated and recovery oriented mental health, drugs and alcohol assessment, treatment and community support to people of all ages within the Barwon region experiencing, or at risk of experiencing, mental health and drug & alcohol issues, and their families.
Our service is internationally recognised for its innovative clinical programs and integrated models of practice that are client centred, accessible and family inclusive.

MHDAS is entering a new phase of co-design of our service system with people who access our services and our wider community.
This will build on our nationally recognized unique cultural approach to the challenges of recovery-oriented service delivery to redesign our service system.
About the facility Our major sites include University Hospital Geelong in Geelong's CBD, the McKellar Centre precinct in North Geelong, Barwon Health North in Norlane, and residential aged care facilities spanning the region.
Comprehensive mental health, community health and dental services are delivered through various programs across the Barwon South West Region, including Torquay and Colac.
The Acute Intervention Service's Community Outreach team is a 7 day a week service with two shifts (AM 0830–1700 / PM 1330–2200).
The team is a tertiary level multidisciplinary and energetic mental health drug and alcohol team that work cohesively together.
The team provides crisis assessments, treatment and assertive support for individuals aged 16-64 years with high acuity mental health and/or AOD needs using a brief intervention model of up to a maximum of a 28-day period.
About the role As the successful applicant you will:
Have formal professionally recognised qualifications in Mental Health Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Social Work or Clinical Psychology, including full registration with AHPRA for relevant disciplines.Must have experience in acute mental health and AOD assessment and treatmentBe able to demonstrate advanced level of clinical skills the assessment and treatment of people with acute mental health and substance use disorders in a community settingHave excellent time management, communication and interpersonal skillsProvide evidence based, high quality care to patientsDeliver consumer-centred care that meets best practice standards and in line with Barwon Health requirementsPlease note Barwon Health will only contact you via our official email and never use unconventional means, such as text messaging or other services.
