About your opportunity: The role of the Senior Medical Officer (SMO) is to provide high quality clinical and non-clinical services to benefit the patients / clients of the Townsville Hospital and Health Service (THHS). This includes research as well as teaching the health professionals of the future.
The position will lead and manage the provision of medical services in accordance with the standard of the speciality, the ethics of the profession and in accordance with the THHS and Queensland Health (QH) policies, in a hospital, community and outreach setting.
Employment Term: Permanent full-time or part-time and Fixed term temporary full-time or part-time hours negotiable What Townsville Hospital and Health Service has to offer: Base comprising salary range of $6776.80 to $9924.00 p.f. or $87.41 to $124.05 p.h. (L13 - L27)4 weeks annual leave with 17.5% loading12.75% employer contribution to superannuation.Attraction and retention incentive allowance (35% base salary)Motor vehicle allowance between $21,000 and $25,500 p.a.Professional development allowance of $21,500 p.a. + 3.6 weeks p.a. leaveInaccessibility allowance of $13,800 p.a.Other employment benefits may include: professional development, salary sacrificing options , shift and locality allowances, employee wellness and assistance programs, and access to corporate discounts. Requirements: Proof of qualification and registration or membership (if applicable) with the appropriate registration authority or association (Medical Board of Australia).Currently enrolled with the Australian General Practice Training Program, or intention to apply to the Program within twelve months of commencement in this role.Fellowship of either the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (FACRRM) or the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP) is highly desirable.Ideally the candidate would be a Rural Generalist with:Successful completion of advanced skills training in Obstetrics, and have accreditation, or be eligible for accreditation, by the Joint Consultative Committee on Obstetrics (JCCO).All applicants must be awarded SoCP by the THHS Credentialing and SoCP committee. All appointments are subject to maintenance of SoCP within the CSCF for the facilities in which clinical work is to be undertaken.This is a Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPD) risk role: Hepatitis A/B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, and Pertussis.Possession of class C drivers' licence.This position may require the incumbent to work at other facilities within the THHS.Probation period may apply.Pre-employment checks will be conducted.Please refer to the Role Description for further details.
