The PositionAn exciting opportunity for a Senior Medical Officers to join a health service in a permanent full-time position located on the Flinders Highway, 376 kilometres west of Townsville, on the country of the Yirandhali people. The geography is volcanic basalt mountains separating black soil plains, rich with dinosaur fossils. There are five national parks close by. The main industry is farming, largely cattle and sheep grazing.The greater part of this role will involve providing high quality primary care / general practice within the health services surgery. The role also involves provision of emergency and inpatient medical services for the Hughenden and / or Richmond Multipurpose Health Service (MPHS). The Multipurpose Health Service provides community health, inpatient (acute and long-stay), outpatient and emergency services to the local community. Telehealth services reduce the need for patient travel. Local staff are supplemented by visiting specialist medical, dental, nursing and allied health services from Townsville Hospital and Health Service (THHS), Non-Government Organisations and Private Providers.Non-clinical duties include quality activities, mandatory training, supervising and teaching, population health, accreditation and research. The successful applicants will lead and manage the provision of medical services in accordance with the standard of the speciality, the ethics of the profession and in accordance with the THHS and Queensland Health (QH) policies.The LocationHughenden is a charming rural town in northwestern Queensland, rich in history and culture. As the service centre for the surrounding agricultural region, it's known primarily for sheep and cattle farming. The area also boasts significant paleontological sites, including those of the famous M. longicolle dinosaur. In addition to its agricultural roots, Hughenden offers a variety of attractions, such as the Flinders Discovery Centre, which highlights the region's natural history. The beautiful landscapes surrounding the town provide ample opportunities for bushwalking and wildlife spotting, making it a fantastic place to live and work. The community is vibrant, hosting numerous events and festivals that foster a strong sense of local identity.Workforce Attraction Incentive Scheme - Eligible health workers who make the move (interstate or international) will receive a $30,000 (PFT) or Pro rata (PPT) initial incentive payment followed by a further $20,000 after completion 12 months continuous service (PFT) or Pro rata (PPT) and a further $20,000 incentive payment after completion of 24 months continuous service (PFT) or Pro rata (PPT). Totalling $70,000 in incentive payments.Essential Criteria• Qualified as a medical practitioner, qualifications in speciality areas and current registration and/or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.• Ideally, the candidate would be a Rural Generalist with either:Successful completion of advanced skills training in Emergency Medicine (or other AST); and - Fellowship of the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine. or - Successful completion of advanced rural skills training in Emergency Medicine (or other ARST); and - Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners with Rural Genaralist Fellowship.The PackageTOTAL ESTIMATED REMUNERATION $299,921 - $400,349Base Salary - (L13) $182,106 to (L27) $266,677Motor Vehicle Allowance $21,000 - $25,500Professional Development Allowance $21,500 Inaccessibility Incentive Allowance (category 2)* $41,400Superannuation Estimate $33,915 - $45,272Senior Medical Officers will accrue 3.6 weeks of Professional Development Leave each year, up to a maximum of 10 years accrual. 5 weeks annual leave with 17.5% annual leave loading. Communication Package. Salary sacrificing for up to $17,000 grossed up taxable equivalent value. Attraction and Retention Incentive Allowance payment of 35 % of your base rate for GP SMO and 40% of your base rate for RG SMO.
