MedicalJobsAustralia.com is on the lookout for multiple Senior Medical Officers to join a rural community hospital, located 110km north of Townsville along the Bruce Highway. The hospital serves a population of approximately 5,000 people, with the surrounding area totaling around 11,000.
We have multiple full-time or part-time positions available. The purpose of this position is to provide medical leadership and high-quality clinical services for hospital inpatients and outpatients as part of a multidisciplinary team, delivering integrated primary and secondary health services to the Ingham community. The role of the Senior Medical Officer (SMO) is crucial in this context, providing high-quality clinical and non-clinical services to benefit the patients and clients of the health service.
The hospital is an acute 28-bed facility providing emergency, outpatient, and inpatient care, with frequent patient transfers to tertiary centres. The health service offers a level three maternity service supported by a Midwifery Group Practice in conjunction with rural generalist obstetricians and anaesthetists, with tertiary level support provided by Townsville University Hospital.

Eligible health workers who make the move (interstate or international) will receive a $30,000 initial incentive payment, followed by a further $20,000 after completion of 12 months continuous service and a further $20,000 after completion of 24 months continuous service, totaling $70,000 in incentive payments.
Qualified as a medical practitioner with qualifications in specialty areas and current registration and/or eligibility for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.Fellowship of either the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (FACRRM) or the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP) is highly desirable.Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and registration or membership (if applicable) with the appropriate registration authority or association.Currently enrolled with the Australian General Practice Training Program, or intention to apply to the Program within twelve months of commencement in this role.Total estimated remuneration is up to $564,048 per annum with a base salary ranging from $182,106 to $266,677. Additional allowances include a motor vehicle allowance, professional development allowance, inaccessibility incentive allowance, and superannuation.
