Your Position: Reports to: Project Lead Engineer
As a Senior Mechanical Project Engineer at Vanderlande, you will be part of a global leader in Airport and Parcel Solutions, contributing to the design and implementation of advanced Baggage Handling Systems (BHS) and parcel systems. You will be instrumental in creating solutions that ensure efficiency, safety, and performance in complex material handling environments. Working closely with cross-functional teams, you will see projects through from conception to completion, delivering world-class solutions for our airport and parcel customers.
Your Responsibilities: Develop and optimize mechanical designs for BHS and parcel solutions, ensuring compliance with technical specifications, safety standards, and ergonomic requirements.Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Low-Level Controls (LLC), High-Level Controls (HLC), and installation teams, to create integrated designs tailored to customer needs in airport and parcel handling environments.Lead mechanical engineering planning throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring all deliverables meet Vanderlande's high standards for quality and efficiency.Coordinate steelwork design, operator interfaces, and building infrastructure to seamlessly integrate with the overall system.Liaise with clients, subcontractors, and design consultants to resolve technical challenges and ensure smooth project execution.Manage and archive mechanical documentation, including shop drawings, material specifications, and as-built documentation, ensuring clarity and alignment with project objectives.Conduct Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) for mechanical components, supporting our commitment to delivering reliable and safe solutions to our airport and parcel customers.Provide technical support during installation and commissioning phases, ensuring that the system operates as designed and meets customer expectations.About You: This role is ideal for individuals with a results-oriented mindset and a strong commitment to delivering high-quality, on-time solutions that meet our customers' needs.
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.5+ years of experience in Material Handling or Baggage Handling Systems (BHS), preferably within Airport or Parcel Solutions.Proficiency in AutoCAD 3D, BIM Revit, and other relevant CAD software (ACAD, NAVIS, ESoT, VILA/CAPE).Knowledge of mechanical systems, steelwork design, and material handling systems used in airport and parcel environments.Basic understanding of electrical components and industrial automation, particularly in BHS and parcel handling systems.Willingness to travel internationally for project-related activities.Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on delivering innovative solutions for complex material handling systems.Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with diverse teams across global projects.Prioritize and manage multiple projects to meet tight deadlines.Adjust designs and solutions based on evolving project needs and constraints.Ensure designs meet safety, ergonomic, and standards.Clearly convey technical information to internal and external stakeholders.What we offer: A competitive remuneration package will be offered to someone who is a team player with a positive, energetic attitude and work ethic as well as the ability to think outside the square.
