Senior Mechanical Engineer Rolling Stock Gemco Rail, a subsidiary of Engenco Limited, specialises in the manufacture of rail products and provision of maintenance services to national rail operators.
Gemco Rail provides a large range of components for locomotives and wagons.
Maintenance services include facility based and in-field support to maximise value for the customer.
Around Australia, Gemco Rail supports all types of railway operations including heavy haul, freight, and passenger.
We are currently seeking a motivated and experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer Rolling Stock to join our team on a permanent full-time basis.
The primary function of the role is to provide technical support for the Gemco Rail business in leading projects relating to the design, manufacture, and maintenance of rolling stock and associated components.
This includes fleet design modifications, service and reliability analysis, factory layouts, workshop continuous improvement and expansion projects.
Location of the role is flexible within Australia, preferably within distance of a Gemco Rail office or workshop.
However, a fully remote position could be considered in other locations for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities:
Management of customer relationships, expectations, and project reporting.
Ensuring projects are delivered on time, on budget, and in full.
Resource forecasting, planning, and scheduling.
Project budget preparation and management control.
Applying formal project management structures to the activities.
Identification and management of key project risks including developing risk mitigation strategies.
Development of production and QA documentation.
Train direct and indirect reports in processes and procedures.
Technical oversight for the work undertaken.
Comply with all statutory, Engenco Ltd and Gemco Rail Pty Ltd management systems, policies, and procedures.
Identification and implementation of process improvement activities.
Any other duties and lawful direction given by the company from time to time.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
10 years of rail industry experience.
Proven ability to prioritize tasks and manage changing workloads.
Experience in coaching, developing, and leading teams.
Strong project management and technical skills.
Systematic and innovative problem-solving abilities.
Advanced analytical, planning, and risk management skills.
Proficient in developing professional engineering reports and presentations.
Excellent verbal and written communication.
Advanced Microsoft Office skills.
Advanced 3D CAD skills including Finite Element Analysis, preferably using SolidWorks.
Project management processes and systems.
Business commercial experience and impacts on P&L. Chartered Engineering status.
