My client is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the design and development of mechanical and structural systems for mining and construction projects, utilizing SolidWorks and FEA, while overseeing project timelines and mentoring junior engineers.
Responsibilities: Lead the design and development of mechanical and structural systems for mining and construction projects (e.g., underground mining equipment, pumping stations, electrical substations, transport frames).Utilize SolidWorks and FEA tools to design and validate mechanical components and systems.Compile and review engineering calculations for mechanical and structural designs, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.Oversee project timelines, budgets, and deliverables, ensuring high-quality standards are maintained and deadlines are met.Provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers and support team collaboration.Troubleshoot and resolve complex engineering challenges, offering innovative solutions.Collaborate with internal teams, clients, and external contractors to ensure designs meet specifications and project requirements.Requirements: Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in mechanical engineering, with a focus on mining, construction, or heavy industrial equipment.Proficiency in SolidWorks 3D design and FEA, with strong hands-on experience in design and simulation.Ability to compile and verify engineering calculations for mechanical and structural systems.Must have or be eligible for Chartered Professional Engineer (CP Eng) status.Strong background in mechanical and structural design principles.Proven leadership and supervisory experience, with the ability to guide and mentor a small team.Experience with complex mechanical and structural projects in mining or construction is highly desirable.Ability to work autonomously, manage multiple priorities, and deliver results efficiently.ALL APPLICANTS MUST HAVE PERMANENT RESIDENCY OR CITIZENSHIP WITHIN AUSTRALIA.
