The Role The Senior Mechanical Engineer will be a product design specialist and be part of the New Product Group, focusing on the introduction of new products into the production line.
You will:
Drive product development initiatives from concept to mass production, overseeing the design, development, and specification of parts, components, and assembliesEnsure that all projects meet high standards of functional and technical performanceApply knowledge of electronic design philosophy to design processesIndependently perform product updates and releasesConduct performance testing and quality control measures to uphold product excellenceEngage closely with suppliers and partners to ensure alignment with project objectivesUtilise 3D software to generate and review designsCollaborate effectively on Request for Quotation (RFQ), Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA), and Quality Assurance (QA) processesIntegrate principles of Ergonomics and User Experience into mechanical designsFabricate prototypes using modern prototyping tools and processesConduct feasibility studies on critical components/parts to inform design decisionsAssess and align production and fitting processes, ensuring adherence to tolerance chain considerations and design specificationsFacilitate the handover and execution of cross-functional processes such as quality assurance, manufacturing, and pilot runsAssist in compliance and certification processes to meet regulatory requirementsSkills and Experience Demonstrated industry expertise in product design engineering within the consumer/technology sector, with a strong track record in problem-solving (experience in electromechanical domains is highly preferred)Proficiency in navigating in-house product development environments, successfully delivering projects from conceptualisation to production.
Particularly adept at detailing design concepts, conducting prototype testing, managing mechanical drawings, and overseeing product verification processesExtensive experience across a range of manufacturing processes, including injection moulding, metal casting, metal fabrication, and CNC machining (good to have)Practical understanding of materials, encompassing their properties and finishing techniques, with a focus on plastics and metalsExcellent written and verbal communication skills, enabling effective collaboration with internal and external stakeholdersMeticulous attention to detail, ensuring precision and accuracy in all tasksProficient in CAD software, particularly advanced modelling in SolidWorks (required) and familiarity with OnShape (desirable)Benefits You will work with the finest technologies in metal engineering and production in a cutting-edge facility where the team enjoy a culture of collaboration, best-practise and innovationWork with passionate, hardworking, and talented colleagues who thrive in challenging situationsOnsite gym and wellbeing programOnsite parkingFree employee assistance program, available 24/7Company values diversity in the workplace and encourages applications from of all genders, ages and backgroundsN.B.
