We have partnered with a Tier-1 asset owner who is looking for an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to work in their Capital Studies and Projects team. Working for this multi-national mining company, you will be driving engineering acceptance and operational readiness management for a wide range of capital projects from feasibility through to project closeout.
To succeed and thrive in this role, you'll come from a strong mechanical engineering background, with demonstrated experience working in project delivery teams. We are looking for an excellent communicator and influencer, someone who is familiar with working in a highly collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with all stakeholders to develop engineering requirements
Identify and plan engineering works with consideration to requirements, budgets, and priorities
Develop and optimise long-term asset management plans & asset maintenance strategies
Data acquisition and analysis to identify, prioritise, and implement improvement opportunities
Undertake complex fault-finding and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) investigations into equipment defects and implement defect elimination countermeasures
Manage and coordinate service providers and vendors for mechanical works and activities
Provide technical expertise to Execution to support work quality and safe execution of maintenance work
Provide support to the Capital Project and Engineering team for operational readiness of new and upgraded equipment
About You
Tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering
Extensive experience in mining, minerals processing, or similar heavy industry environment
Excellent analytical and investigative skills with specific experience in root cause analyses for fixed plant equipment
Experience with Bulk Materials Handling Equipment – Conveyors, Chutes, Hoppers, Product Bins & Tanks
Process Plant Experience inclusive of Gyratory Crushers, Screening, Pumping & Piping Systems (Slurry & Process water), Ancillary equipment – compressed air systems, pump gland seal water systems
Exposure to and experience with classified plant processes (cranes & pressure vessels) and maintenance support requirements
Basic Knowledge of Electrical & Control systems and Mechanical Structures and the ability to work with Engineers from these disciplines
SAP Experience
This role will start off as a Brisbane-based position as the current portfolio of projects is in the Feasibility and Pre-Feasibility phases. Once they move to execution and commissioning, this role will transition into a site-based, FIFO role to a central Queensland mine site.
