We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to support a growing Maritime SME as part of one of Australia's largest Naval enhancement programs. This is a senior leadership position which will influence customer outcomes, technical delegation, system engineering management and cost effectiveness. Candidates must have Defence industry experience within CASG and a current or reinstatable security clearance (Baseline, NV1, NV2). Canberra location with relocation assistance.
Role: Senior Mechanical Engineer
Responsibilities: Assess and advise on key mechanical system technical risks; Support the review of technical deliverables from the project's Head Contractor; Review calculations applying mechanical system engineering principles, techniques, procedures and criteria for naval ship designs; Engage with the combat system delivery participants to address provision of combat system cooling requirements, and establish the associated interfaces; Assess and advise on suitability of system characteristics including performance, noise and vibration; Mentor and share experience and lessons with project team personnel to advance mechanical engineering skills and knowledge within the project's technical team; Manage Commonwealth and APS requirements and influence customer outcomes. Qualifications/Requirements: Degree-qualified mechanical or marine systems engineer with strong knowledge and experience in marine mechanical systems; Strong communication skills, including the ability to engage with senior stakeholders and decision authorities and explain complex positions and issues in a concise manner; A demonstrated ability to lead, mentor and share experience and lessons with the project team membership to build mechanical engineering skills and abilities in the project team; Experience in design and specification of marine mechanical and auxiliary systems, including Heating, Air Conditioning, Ventilation (HVAC), Chilled Water (CW), and other cooling water systems; Understanding of systems engineering process - from specification writing, requirement analysis and traceability through to system level design/interface, and requirements management. Knowledge and understanding of the following aspects will be an advantage; Experience with verification, validation and set to work and commissioning activities; Must have Australian Citizenship to apply and have current or reinstatable security clearance; Must have minimum 8 - 10 years' Defence industry experience within CASG/Department of Defence. #J-18808-Ljbffr
