Your next exciting job opportunity – Are you a seasoned Senior Mechanical Engineer with a passion for driving impactful solutions within the critical infrastructure landscape?
We are seeking a proficient and experienced individual to join our Critical Infrastructure team in Victoria.
This person can be based in Melbourne, Perth or Brisbane.
As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you'll play a pivotal role in spearheading engineering projects, utilising your expertise to create innovative solutions that influence the infrastructure and energy sectors across the Asia-Pacific region.

In this role you will be able to: Conduct stress analysis of machines, machine components, and structures using advanced techniques such as SpaceGass, finite element modeling, and computational fluid dynamics.
Innovate and develop client-centric solutions that significantly impact the infrastructure and energy sectors in the Asia-Pacific region.
Collaborate seamlessly within the BMT APAC team, leveraging technical expertise to successfully execute multifaceted projects.
Lead the design of new port facilities catering to bulk commodity product handling.
Oversee the design of port bulk materials handling equipment, including shiploaders, ship-unloaders, container cranes, conveying systems, transshipment systems, and bulk storage systems.
Drive initiatives concerning mining equipment such as conveying systems, stackers, reclaimers, and bucket wheel excavators.
Contribute expertise in designing equipment across heavy engineering sectors like energy, defence, rail, shipping, and transport.
Demonstrate proficiency in renewable energy technology within project frameworks.
Efficiently project manage various endeavors, ensuring adherence to scope, timelines, cost, and quality benchmarks.
Uphold stringent adherence to quality, safety, and environmental standards in all project undertakings.
Actively engage with clients, fostering relationships, and driving business development initiatives.
Relevant Education, Experience, and Skills: Essential: A degree in mechanical engineering or a related field, or higher qualifications.
7 to 10 years of hands-on experience in heavy industry settings.
Proficiency in computational stress analysis using software packages like ANSYS, SpaceGass, and/or SolidWorks.
Current RPEV (Mechanical), or ability to obtain one.
In-depth familiarity with local and international design codes governing equipment (, , AS1418, ISO 5049 & FEMII).
Practical on-site knowledge of maintenance and operational issues.
Flexibility for short-term interstate and overseas travel.
Strong analytical, design, and investigative skills.
Exceptional interpersonal, leadership, and people management abilities.
Demonstrated aptitude in building rapport with both team members and clients.
Robust commercial and financial acumen.
Desirable: Experience in design software such as SpaceGass, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and Ansys.
Proficiency in plant and structural compliance inspections, condition assessments, troubleshooting on-site, life extension studies, mechanical design, and stress analysis.
Expertise in fields including the design of port facilities, port bulk materials handling equipment, mining equipment, heavy engineering, and renewables technology.
