Due to Navantia Australia's ongoing success in delivering specialised Engineering Services to the Royal Australian Navy, we are growing considerably and have exciting opportunities for experienced Outfitting Engineers to join the Naval Design and Engineering Centre in its Melbourne, Docklands office.
This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a successful multi-disciplined Engineering team and work alongside industry leaders and like-minded engineers on exciting new naval ship designs.
As the Outfitting Engineer, you will be responsible for working within the General Design and Outfitting division to deliver outfitting systems for naval ships.
Systems responsibility include compartment and equipment arrangement, lifting equipment, anchor systems, door closures, ladders, and flooring systems.
In this role, you will: Provide experience and broad technical knowledge of functional and detailed design related to the Outfitting and Accommodation Systems on naval ships.Utilise 3D modelling tools to develop designs, producing those designs into 2D drawings using CAD software.Participate in the development of ship outfitting design documentation, investigations, impact assessment, analyses, drawings, designs, reports, Installation work packages, etc.Undertake technical investigations and root cause analysis to develop innovative engineering solutions.Deliver technical reports and technical documentation in accordance with established Navantia and customer standards.Work effectively as an extension of the General Design and Outfitting division at the Navantia Design and Engineering Centre located in Melbourne.Plan and coordinate assigned engineering projects from concept through to delivery, including the development of project plans, schedule and engagement of internal and external stakeholders.Plan and administrate design coordination meetings with engineering project stakeholders.Plan and administrate Design Review meetings with the Client.As the ideal candidate, you will have: Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical, Mechatronics or Naval Architecture.3-5 years' experience in relevant engineering or marine environment working in a system's engineering role.Experience in the design of mechanical, minor structural and outfit systems on naval ship platforms.Experience in a technical and industrial Defence environment (highly desirable).Knowledge of 2D CAD (AutoCAD/MicroStation) to produce design information.Competent in the understanding of, and development of, engineering documentation and engineering drawings.Demonstrated ability to operate autonomously using initiative, sound reasoning, listening and decision-making skills.Ability to communicate effectively and build positive relationships at all levels of the business and clients.Australian Citizen holding or eligible for an AGSVA Defence Security Clearance to a minimum of Baseline.What it's like to work with Navantia Australia Navantia Australia plays a key part in the Australian government's Naval Shipbuilding Plan, we are committed to growing Australia's shipbuilding and sustainment capability and we want you to grow your career with us.
