RoleSummary: The SeniorMarket Modelling Analyst is an exciting opportunity in ourStrategic Analysis and Financial Planning team based at our PerthCBD office.
The purposeof the role is to support strategic initiatives and commercialdecision making through operational energy market modelling and theprovision of energy market insights.
Keyresponsibilities of the role include:
Undertake operationaldispatch and investment modelling utilising Synergy's energymarket modelling tool (PLEXOS). Supportthe review and development of key market assumptions whichunderpin energy market modelling activities, e.g. SWIS demand,distributed energy resources, generation operationalparameters, fuel market outlook. Undertake end-to-endmodelling processes for Synergy's long-term supplyposition helping establish and maintain robust and repeatabledata management processes. Developbespoke operational analysis to support project tasks as theyarise. Researchthe market environment outlook and future developments toinform and support the delivery of keyaccountabilities. Whatyou'll bring: Tertiaryeducation qualifications in one of the following or closelyrelated disciplines: Commerce (e.g. Economics, Finance,Accounting), Engineering, Statistics/Mathematics Morethan 5 years' experience in a business analyst oroperational/ technical analyst role within an energy related(e.g., electricity, oil & gas) or industrial/miningorganisation. Experience managinggeneration operational performance or using plant dispatchmodels to optimise market outcomes within the WA wholesaleelectricity market or national electricity market. Detailedknowledge of energy or utility business models and value chainsimpacting financial outcomes.
