Are you passionate about marine ecosystems and dedicated to making a meaningful impact?
At BMT, we are seeking a highly skilled Senior Marine Scientist

to join our dynamic team of environmental professionals.
This is an exciting opportunity to work on innovative projects that help protect and preserve our precious marine environments.

To be successful in your new role, you will display experience in and have the ability to:

Lead and manage marine impact assessments, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations.

Conduct research and analysis on marine ecosystems, habitats, and species to inform conservation strategies.

Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to design and implement marine management plans.

Engage with stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, and local communities, to promote sustainable practices.

Mentor and support junior staff, sharing your expertise to foster their professional development.

Work collaboratively across both the local and broader BMT teams - in the Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide, Perth, and Brisbane offices.

Prior experience that will set you up for success –

BMT are looking for passionate and flexible team members who possess the following knowledge, experience and skills.

Bachelor's degree in Marine/Environmental Science, or other relevant area of study.

More than 5 years' relevant experience post-graduation in marine ecology, with a strong background in fieldwork, data analysis and report writing.

Strong verbal and written communication and report writing skills.

Knowledge of environmental regulations and policies relating to marine conservation and management.

You are a proactive problem-solver who thrives in a collaborative environment and is passionate about marine conservation.

Right to work in Australia with no restrictions.

Post graduate degree (Honours, Masters, PhD) in relevant field.

Experience working within the scientific, engineering or resources sector.

Post-graduate qualifications in environmental management or other relevant area of study.

Experience in navigating State and Federal Legislation for impact assessments and approvals.

Willingness to conduct fieldwork in remote areas.

Demonstrated business development skills.

The ability to coach and mentor junior staff.

Demonstrated ability to manage and contribute to multiple projects simultaneously.

Location:

This role will be located in our Perth office, the second largest of our APAC locations.
There will also be occasional travel to field locations or interstate to work closer with your cross-border colleagues.
