Our Business Controls and Monitoring team comprises of 4 individuals providing risk advice to CIB with a heavy digital, transformation and technology focus. The team has a great reputation for high quality delivery, constructive challenge, pragmatic risk advice and is seen as a business partner that supports the CIB business to deliver transformation and change safely into the Westpac Group.
As a Senior Manager in Risk Transformation and Change Business Controls and Monitoring, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring robust risk management practices within CIB's initiatives. Your expertise will guide the organisation through strategic risk transformation, risk-in-change, and first-line risk advisory. You will provide critical advice and oversight over risk assessments, controls, incident, and issue management to ensure compliance with Westpac policies and risk appetite. Partnering with stakeholders, you will educate, uplift, and embed strong risk management practices and culture.
Reporting to the Executive Manager, Risk Transformation & Change, CIB Business Controls & Monitoring, your efforts will focus on delivering continual improvement and optimising the control framework, with an emphasis on automation.
Day to day, your responsibilities will include: Provide advice and oversight over risk assessments, controls, incident, and issue management related to transformation or change to ensure compliance with Westpac policies and within risk appetitePartner with stakeholders to educate, uplift, and embed strong risk management practices and risk cultureDelivering uplift and continual improvement to optimise the control framework, with a focus on automationMeasure, report, and facilitate discussion on risk management practices to senior managementSupporting the business to manage non-financial risk metrics and compliance with Group policiesEnsure project risk management (delivery and delivered risks) is compliant with Group policies with positive delivered risk outcomesDrive high-quality risk assessments and management reporting, fostering good risk discussions and outcomesContribute towards risk transformation strategy for CIB and CIB BCM What do I need?
To be successful in this role, you need a solid foundation in compliance and risk management within the financial services sector. Specifically, you should have over 5 years of experience in compliance or risk, demonstrating your ability to navigate complex regulatory environments. Your expertise should include operational risk management, ensuring that you can identify, assess, and mitigate risks that could impact day-to-day operations. Further advantageous qualities and experience includes:
Experience in project risk management and risk-in-change, as you'll need to manage risks associated with new projects and changes within the organisationExperience in corporate and/or institutional bankingExcellent ability to articulate ideas clearly and concisely in both written and spoken forms.Strong active listening skills to understand and respond to others effectively.Proven ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to achieve common goalsStrong negotiation skills to resolve conflicts and reach mutually beneficial agreementsLeadership qualities to inspire and guide teams towards successExperience in technology risk management (would be desirable) How do I apply?
