The Senior Manager Planning and Environment oversees VicGrid's planning and environmental assessments for new transmission projects in Victoria.
This role involves managing a team, providing expert advice on planning and environmental matters, and building relationships with government and industry stakeholders.
It also includes integrating social licence principles into assessments and coordinating with various stakeholders throughout the approval process for renewable energy and electricity transmission projects.
What you will deliver: Lead the design of the planning and environmental approval processes including environmental referrals and approvals, planning scheme amendments, permit applications, heritage approvals and other consents as required.Develop and define VicGrid's role in relation to input and review of proponent-led planning approvals, environmental approvals, and referrals (including planning scheme amendments, environmental effects statements and permit applications) for transmission projects.Support and develop respectful partnerships with Traditional Owners and First Peoples.Support the VicGrid community and stakeholder engagement teams for requirements related to landowner engagement, status of potential project land, landowner interests and existing rights.What you will bring: An appropriate tertiary qualification in law, land planning, or environmental fields is required.Sound knowledge of the Victoria planning and approvals process and legislation and regulatory requirements, including the Environment Effect Act 1978, Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (Cth), Aboriginal Heritage Act 2006 and Planning and Environment Act 1987.Proven experience with the admin and legislative aspects of planning, environmental management of infrastructure projects and protection of the environment, including demonstrated experience in preparing planning, heritage and/or environmental approval documentation.Demonstrated experience in the planning and environmental approvals for the development and delivery of major infrastructure projects in energy or other sectors.What we offer you: Career advancement and professional development opportunities.Mental health and wellbeing offerings through our Employee Assistance Program (EAP).Annual salary increases and incremental performance-based payments.Priority consideration applies to Victorian Public Service (VPS) and employees of the Victorian Public Sector who apply through the Jobs and Skills Exchange (JSE) jobs board platform.
