Organisational Profile
GEGAC is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation based on Gunaikurnai Country in Bairnsdale, Victoria. Consisting of about 160 staff, GEGAC is a Not for Profit organisation that delivers holistic services in the areas of Primary Health, Social Services, Elders & Disability and Early Childhood Education.
GEGAC is a child safe agency and has a zero tolerance of abuse or neglect of children and young people.
Position Purpose
The Senior Manager Business and Finance role at GEGAC will lead the Business and Finance team to deliver comprehensive financial support across the organisation. This role involves overseeing end-to-end finance operations, financial planning and analysis, and internal and external reporting, including audits. Key responsibilities include managing corporate accounting, regulatory reporting, and budget preparation, while collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment and transparency. The manager will also focus on identifying and implementing improvements to procedures and controls, ensuring compliance with regulations, and handling ad-hoc projects to support the organisation's goals and strategic intent. This position is crucial for maintaining the efficiency and effectiveness of GEGAC's financial operations.
Key Selection Criteria
Understanding and commitment to Victorian Aboriginal Health, Aboriginal culture, and the philosophy and practice of Aboriginal Community Control.
Provision of multiple level financial reporting, organisational and project budgeting including management of financial control systems.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to build rapport with senior managers and non-financial stakeholders.
Significant experience in financial operations and managing resources within a complex and changing environment.
Strong knowledge and understanding of contemporary thinking and approaches around financial risk management, financial performance and assurance in the not-for-profit sector.
Qualifications and Registrations Requirement (Essential or Desirable).
Tertiary qualifications in Business, Accounting or Finance related stream ESSENTIAL
CPA or CA qualified (or equivalent) ESSENTIAL
A person of Aboriginal / Torres Strait Islander background ESSENTIAL
A satisfactory Working with Children Check and Fit2Work Police Check ESSENTIAL
Proof of COVID-19 vaccinated to align with GEGAC requirements ESSENTIAL
