Newly created permanent opportunities for two Senior Management Accountants to join our high performing team based in Brisbane CBD.

The Senior Management Accountants provide effective expert advice and business analysis to management in matters relating to all financial, service costing, system development and funding models including fee for service agreements.

The roles provide client focused financial services across Queensland Corrective Services and actively contribute to the improvement of business processes and systems to enable service improvement of the Command.
The Senior Management Accountant reports to the Manager, Budgets.
In this role you will: Develop a robust knowledge of the business to enable the provision of advice and analysis to key stakeholders, including detailed understanding of cost structure and operational drivers.Provide accurate, professional advice and consultancy to departmental clients and senior management on a diverse range of budgetary and financial issues affecting business unit functions.Develop, implement, and maintain budget policies, procedures and practices which facilitate and support financial management within the department.Provide analysis and advice on organisational and business unit financial and budgetary performance and financial management, including the preparation of content for the monthly business report.Develop and drive the implementation, evaluation and review of financial processes and strategies to deliver and improve financial services which support health service delivery.Undertake investigation and analysis of cost drivers and contribute to the development of models to cost outputs.Support the development and implementation of business information and reporting systems to support performance improvement activities and management decision making.Undertake complex research activities and prepare submissions, reports and briefing materials on budget development, financial policy, and management issues.Ensure compliance with relevant legislation including Financial Accountability Act, and other QCS policy documents including Financial Management Practice Manual, Purchasing Guidelines and QCS Business Rules.Develop and maintain effective partnerships/relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.Actively participate in the building of organisation capability and professional expertise within and outside the department, including the development and maintenance of professional knowledge and skills.Role Fit: Within the context of the role responsibilities described above, the ideal applicant will be someone who can competitively demonstrate their knowledge, skills and experiences and their suitability against the Leadership competencies for Queensland (Individual contributor): Vision, Results and Accountability in the context of the essential requirements for this role:
The Essential Requirements for this role are: Demonstrated experience in providing specialist knowledge, expertise and skill in financial management systems, legislation, policies, and practices.Demonstrated ability to prepare financial and operational management reports to provide insight and assist decision-making, including the ability to utilise relevant software.Demonstrated experience in supporting, implementing, and evaluating service/business improvement initiatives to directly enhance budget delivery outcomes and expectations (meeting targets and Key Performance Indicator's).Proven expertise in the use of information management technology and financial systems, and high level analytical and problem-solving skills.Demonstrated ability to manage workload and meet tight deadlines in a large and complex organisation coupled with extensive interpersonal skills.Demonstrated awareness and understanding of commercial concepts.Applications to remain current for 12 months.
