About the Role A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a skilled Senior Management Accountant to join the Santos team. Based at our offices in Brisbane, this position reports to the Senior Finance Manager – Eastern Australia and is responsible for providing financial business partnering and analysis for the Eastern Australia business unit, including assisting in management accounting, budgeting and forecasting. The Senior Finance Analyst will work with the other members of the finance team to ensure analysis for all areas provides operations leadership team with a clear understanding of:
Business Unit Consolidated Management Reporting Eastern Australia and PNG consolidation People Cost Centre Management for Eastern Australia Business Unit Functions Business financial performance The financial impacts of key business decisions Individual cost drivers Key responsibilities of the role include:
Business partnering Act as finance business partner to the Business Unit Functions, HR, Community and External Affairs, Information Systems, Legal, EH&S, supporting in financial analysis and decision making. Support Senior Finance Manager and GM Finance and Information Systems with regular reporting and demand driven analysis. Provide advice to the asset in relation to financial considerations – for example, DOA application, treatment of expenditure, cost management structures. Support cost reduction / optimisation initiatives. Manage the Santos services and charging to GLNG Downstream Business via Service Level and Secondment Agreements. Provide guidance to other Analysts within the Business Unit on Financial processes. Business Unit Financial management & reporting Business Unit Consolidated Management Reporting EA & PNG Business Unit Prepare analysis and commentary for monthly results, for feed into Division Performance reporting. Prepare consolidated business unit and asset-level forecasts and budgets in line with Group and Business Unit timelines and requirements. Provide input to Business Unit management reporting requirements to support financial understanding and decision making Review and challenge allocation of costs into the Eastern Australian assets. Identify and implement process improvements in planning, reporting and cost allocation processes. Ownership of relevant departmental cost centres. Monitor residual costs. Month end Consolidated EA&PNG Management Reporting submission and reporting packs. Advise on and prepare one-off / ad hoc journals. Perform required financial analysis for the EA business unit. Provide asset-specific commentary to feed to monthly Asset Performance Review (APR). Support corporate reporting requirements. About you Holding a Bachelor level qualification in Accounting, Commerce, or an equivalent field, as well as Membership of ICAA, CPA or equivalent, the ideal candidate will possess significant accounting experience, preferably within the resource industry, as well as SAP Finance system knowledge and strong problem solving and analytical skills.
Applicants will also be expected to demonstrate skills at an advanced level with MS office products and data modelling, as well as demonstrated experience building and managing internal relationships and collaboration with others to meet common goals and objectives. Excellent communication skills are a must, along with the ability to work cross functionally and manage different stakeholder needs.
Any Joint Venture experience you have, will be held in high regard but is not essential.
This position will suit a proactive, results driven Senior Accountant, who demonstrates strong interpersonal skills with an ability to engage with stakeholders.
