About the role We are currently seeking a full-time Senior Maintenance Engineer - Diesel Mechanic, to join our Shore Based Maintenance Team. Reporting to Group Chief Engineer Marine, the Senior Maintenance Engineer is responsible for managing the shore based maintenance team and assisting in the mechanics of vessel repairs and servicing of vessels, pontoon, vehicles, tenders, outboards, air-conditioning, refrigeration, lighting, davits, and lifting systems. Following scheduled maintenance programs, rectification works, completing servicing as outlined and recording details for administration purposes.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Diagnose system problems if and when they occur.Accurately maintain logs and work orders through to job completion and sign off.Adherence with SOPs, Marine Memos, operation procedures and WHS requirements.Remain adaptable and acceptable to change while working autonomously and managing a team.Responsible for following the scheduled maintenance program for all mechanical, electrical, air control, safety equipment on a regular basis on the vessels, tenders, pontoon, etc.Responsible for the maintenance of main and auxiliary engines, hydraulic pumps, hydraulic cylinders (rams), water pumps, electric generators, lights, navigation system, ventilation systems, underwater running gear, and any other mechanical, hydraulic, electrical gear on board.Responsible for the maintenance of emergency generators, emergency steering and firefighting systems to ensure compliance in line with legislation.In addition to the scheduled maintenance program, responsible for fault finding and additional repairs.Ensure sufficient stock of oils, lubricants, spill kits, etc. are always on-board vessels by completing stock top ups where required.Regular service on engines, gearboxes, generators, air-conditioners, etc.Completion of ad hoc maintenance tasks and repairs where there are mechanical issues arising, under the guidance of the Group Chief Engineer Marine and Engineering Manager.Requirements About you The successful candidate will be highly skilled and experienced with a strong marine diesel engine industry background. You will thrive in a fast-paced environment and be comfortable with working outdoors in various weather conditions. You will have strong problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude. Be team-oriented with a positive, adaptable "can do" attitude.
