Who we are
NORSTA Maritime is the Regional Maintenance Provider for the North-East (RMP-NE) region, delivering project management capabilities, technical expertise and quality assurance activities for the Royal Australian Navy fleet.
Our advanced maritime sustainment planning coordinates fleet maintenance at scale across Far North Queensland, Northern Australia and adjacent waters for the Commonwealth of Australia.
Due to demand for our services, we are expanding rapidly and developing further capacity for more vessel platforms.
Note: This position requires Australian citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain an Australian Government Security Clearance (minimum Baseline).
About the role
The Senior Maintenance Assurance Advisor (SMAA) plays a vital role in ensuring the finalisation and delivery of RMP-NE projects by ensuring quality assurance and ultimately, sea worthiness of the Royal Australian Navy's fleet.
The role specifically ensures the accuracy and currency of Objective Quality Evidence (OQE) and Task Progress Completion Certificates as well as various industry and customer standards.
The role also plays an important role in maintaining a pro-active and vigilant team safety culture, fostering NORSTA values and behaviours.
Key responsibilities include:
Participate in daily production related activities, including daily and weekly production meetings.
With the assistance of the Support Services team, identify any upcoming hold/witness points associated with the maintenance activity, ensuring relevant internal and external stakeholders are notified and that all required persons are in attendance.
Upon completion of a maintenance activity, review documentation to ensure interim or final certifications are completed and that they are an accurate reflection of task status, as well as Objective Quality Evidence specified has been provided.
Attend the work site/vessel to confirm that completion of the task is in accordance with the WI/SOW for the maintenance activity.
The role is an initial six-month fixed-term contract but is highly likely to be extended, with possible permanent employment at the end of the contract.
About you
You are a seasoned professional with a proven track record in sustainment and quality assurance, coupled with strong project management skills.
Your expertise in these areas enables you to effectively oversee and optimize vessel operations.
While a maritime technical background and/or Australian Defence Force experience is desirable, it is not a necessity.
You thrive in a collaborative team environment and possess excellent communication and organizational skills.
Qualifications and Experience
Tertiary or trade certification across a variety of engineering or technical industries.
Solid experience in senior-level maintenance assurance roles within industries, including maritime and/or Defence.
Demonstrated expertise in sustainment, quality assurance, and project management.
Proficiency in coordinating support services and managing administrative tasks.
Familiarity with safety protocols, quality assurance, and environmental considerations.
Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with internal teams, external stakeholders, and contractors.
