Maximum term position up to June 2027 (part time considered)
Salary range: $98,902 - $123,624 (pro rata) plus super plus salary packaging
Up to $15,900 in salary packaging and hybrid WFH & office model
About the role
The Senior Lived Experience Consultant (SLEC) will play an important part in reforming Victoria Legal Aid's (VLA's) remand service as part of our Remand Reform Project. You will be required to support the Remand Support and Advocacy Service (RSAS) project team in the creation of a new service, aiming to better meet the non-legal needs of people facing remand.
In addition, you will be responsible for supporting, facilitating and coordinating a lived experience group with membership drawn from people who have personal experience of the criminal justice system. As such, this role is a designated lived experience position and only candidates with personal experience in police custody or having criminal charges are eligible to apply as per the Equal Opportunity Act 2010.
This role is based at our Melbourne CBD office on Wurundjeri Country.
About you
As our ideal candidate, you will possess:
Demonstrated experience working from a lived experience perspective in a designated role (mandatory).
Previous experience in group facilitation (highly desirable).
Proven experience working with First Nations Australians and/or our priority client groups and an ability to work in a culturally safe, trauma informed and person-centred way (desirable).
Post secondary qualification (certificate, diploma or degree) in a relevant field such as, community development, community health, community mental health, health, education or social work or equivalent professional experience (desirable).
