The opportunity: As the Senior LIMS Developer, you will play a key role in developing, optimising, and enhancing VCGS's Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS). You will design and implement solutions that streamline laboratory processes, ensuring data integrity, stability, and operational efficiency. This role involves working closely with scientists, lab technicians, and other stakeholders to ensure the system aligns with laboratory workflows and integrates seamlessly with instruments and processes.
This flexible position offers the opportunity to work as part of the Software Systems and Integration team in a collaborative environment with a great balance of remote and onsite work. You will take the initiative to improve the LIMS platform, identify innovative solutions, and provide technical expertise to enhance system performance and reliability.
Our Ideal Candidate: You are an experienced software developer with a passion for designing and delivering innovative LIMS solutions. You possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills and have experience working in a laboratory or health-related environment. Your technical expertise is complemented by excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Your responsibilities include: Design, develop, and implement efficient code tailored for laboratory information management systems, ensuring streamlined laboratory processes and data management. Conduct code reviews to ensure LIMS code conforms to team standards, meets the highest quality and provides opportunities for feedback to the team regarding best practice. Conduct thorough testing of LIMS applications in a lab environment, identifying potential gaps and ensuring seamless integration with laboratory instruments and other associated systems. Prioritise data security within the LIMS, safeguarding sensitive laboratory data and ensuring compliance with industry-specific regulations and standards. Support the delivery of training sessions for LIMS developers, ensuring they possess a thorough understanding and proficiency in utilising and enhancing the LIMS for optimal performance and adaptability. What we need from you: A tertiary qualification in BSc or BA/Honours/Masters in computer science, software engineering, information technology or related discipline or an appropriate level of expertise gained from a combination of experience, training or professional accreditation. Demonstrated experience in designing, developing, and implementing LIMS, with proficiency in relevant programming languages and frameworks. Proven ability to conduct detailed code reviews, ensuring adherence to best practices and team standards, with a focus on delivering high-quality solutions. Strong technical expertise in querying databases, database management, and system integrations specific to LIMS. (Desirable) Experience with LabWare LIMS configuration and writing LIMS Basic. (Desirable) Experience using Git or other version control systems. (Desirable) Familiarity with Crystal Reports. (Desirable) Familiarity with Microsoft SQL Server administration.
