Utilise your existing skills in interpreting and applying legislation/policy/procedures to assess and make decisions about a high volume of liquor licence applicationsOpportunity to work with a high-performing and passionate team in the Victorian Public Service for 22 monthsThe Department of Justice and Community Safety (the department) is seeking a Licensing Officer to provide an important role within the licensing division of Liquor Control Victoria.
About the Business Unit: Liquor Control Victoria was established on 1 July 2022 and comprises the independent Victorian Liquor Commission and staff from the Department of Justice and Community Safety. Liquor Control Victoria is responsible for issuing liquor licences and overseeing industry compliance and enforcement to ensure that Victorians and visitors to the state enjoy safe and responsible liquor licenced environments.
This is an exciting time to join Liquor Control Victoria and to be part of something new and growing. We are strengthening our focus on harm minimisation and assessment of community impacts as part of our regulatory approach following major reforms to liquor licencing laws that commenced in 2022.

About the Role: The Senior Licensing Supervisor works within the Licensing Division to ensure that the assessment and determination of liquor licence applications is carried out so that the risk of alcohol related harm is minimised. Core business includes usual formal delegations to make decisions about whether or not to grant liquor licence applications, adhering to qualitative and quantitative standards, managing a high-volume workload to organisational priorities, and answering applicant and licensee queries.
The Senior Licensing Supervisor plays a significant role in developing, rolling out and monitoring processes relating to workflow management and quality. These processes are for a variety of liquor licenses and approvals.
This role is responsible for ensuring consistency in staff management and supervisory practices and procedures. The role handles their own case load and ensures that the team makes major contributions to the Licensing Division business plan initiatives.
