Working in theSouth Australian Parliament Research Library Located inParliament House on North Terrace, the functions ofthe Parliament Research Library are to: •Provide effective, efficient, and professional research andlibrary services to Members of Parliament and their staff;and •Liaise with staff within the Parliament, with government andits agencies, other libraries, external groups, and the broaderresearch community in the provision of these services so thatMembers are able to effectively discharge their parliamentaryduties. Membersand their staff are treated as separate work groups, withofficers of the Library required to deliver specific supportand services to those work groups in a confidential,trustworthy, reliable, timely, and impartial manner. Eachmember of Library staff has their own primary responsibilitiesand duties, all employees need to maintain a flexible approachand be team-focused in order to meet the challenges faced bythe Library.  About therole This roleis based within the Library Services section of theParliamentary Library.  Theposition is directly responsible for the maintenance anddevelopment of the Parliamentary Library's mediamonitoring service and collection, both in hard copy anddigital format. Yourduties will be to:
Take leadresponsibility for the provision of the ParliamentaryLibrary's media monitoring services (television,newspaper clippings, radio transcripts and mediareleases). Manage, inconjunction with the Parliamentary Librarian, theallocation of media monitoring tasks across the Library toensure media monitoring services are delivered consistentlyand in a timely manner. Maintain andupdate the South Australian election policies/campaignmaterial data base. Supervise theLibrary Officer (ASO-02) position on a day-to-daybasis. Ensure back-endmedia-related data entry processes are fit-for-purpose andassessed regularly for effectiveness andefficiency. Create materialestablishing internal media monitoring processes forLibrary staff and review regularly for effectiveness andefficiency. Create materialfor Library clients to demonstrate effective mediamonitoring search techniques. Prepare relevantstatistics and data as to patronage when requested by theParliamentary Librarian. Assist withcollection development, including copy cataloguing, whenrequired. Aboutyou Significant levelof contemporary knowledge in, and experience with,SharePoint Online and contemporary Library documentmanagement systems to input and retain Libraryrecords.
High-levelinterpersonal and written and verbal communication skills,with a significant capacity to influence and create trustwith Library clients and people at all levels, negotiatesuccessful outcomes and present complex concepts clearlyand concisely.
Proven ability towork under broad direction, exercise significant levels ofresponsibility and decision-making in identifyingperformance outcomes, reviewing operations, and determiningpriorities to meet project deadlines.
Beeligible for ALIA membership.
Educationqualification: Diploma of Library and InformationServices.
Experience inFIRST Software Solutions.
Experience inInMagic products (DBText Works).
Experience inclient-service delivery.
