About the Opportunity The Senior Librarian, Access and Inclusion develops and implements interventions that reduce barriers to access and engagement with the Library's collections and services for people with disability, people experiencing social disadvantage, and people with complex needs. The role facilitates access to specialist and expert advice across State Library Victoria in relation to the needs of people with disability and people experiencing social disadvantage.
About You The ideal candidate has completed a library and information science qualification or equivalent degree, that confers eligibility for associate membership of the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA). The ideal candidate will also have knowledge on disability and other socially disadvantaged communities and have a good understanding of accessibility and other challenges the communities face. People with a disability or from other socially disadvantaged communities are highly encouraged to apply. In addition, you will come to us with:
Completion of a degree or post-graduate level library and information science qualification or equivalent, conferring eligibility for associate membership of the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA).Demonstrated experience in working in close collaboration with community groups and organisations, such as disability or minority communities.Solid working experience with identifying, advocating and raising awareness on accessibility and other barriers for affected community groups.Demonstrated experience in engaging, consulting and establishing solid working relationships with community groups, i.e. disability and other minority groups.Relevant experience in the provision of reference services.An excellent track record with providing exceptional customer service, including providing exceptional subject matter knowledge and access to collections.How to apply Please click the Apply button to submit your application via Careers.Vic.
