Utilise your policy and development expertise to provide support and advice to the Integrity Regulation and Legal Services branch.Fixed-Term (3 years), Full-Time opportunity to work with a high-performing and passionate team in the Victorian Public Service.About Us: Integrity Policy and Performance (IPP) is a business unit within the Integrity, Regulation and Legal Services group of the Department of Justice and Community Safety.
This is an exciting opportunity to join an established high-performing team in a high-profile area of government.
The role would suit an experienced policy professional with regulatory expertise or a lawyer with recent practising experience who is looking to expand their skills in a policy setting.
About the Role: The Senior Legal Policy Officer will work across the legal profession regulation and First Law Officer workstreams.
They will provide authoritative legal policy advice on the exercise of the Attorney-General's First Law Officer functions and opportunities for regulatory reform within the Legal Profession Uniform Law scheme.
Some of your duties will include:
Providing authoritative advice to the Attorney-General and departmental executives on operational issues affecting Victorian integrity agencies, including in relation to budget, subordinate legislation and legislative reform.Identifying, developing and implementing legal policy proposals and legislative reform relating to key issues affecting the Victorian integrity system.Managing designated projects, undertaking research and developing evidence-based policy proposals, analysing and evaluating policy options to improve the operation of the Victorian integrity system and delivering on government priorities.Stakeholder engagement and strong interpersonal collaboration skills are essential in the delivery of the position's purpose.
Technical expertise in criminal law and/or regulatory policy would be an asset in this role.
About You: As an ideal candidate, you will possess:
