What you'll do As a Senior Legal Counsel for the Equifax Workforce Solutions business unit, you will be responsible for providing specialised legal advice on data privacy, competition and consumer law. This is an incredible opportunity to join an amazing team and help fuel the hyper growth of an award winning innovative new solution that enables our customers to instantly verify income and employment information in a digital and secure way. You will provide responsive, efficient, practical and high-quality legal advice and guidance in relation to product structuring, commercial contracts and related regulatory, compliance, operational support, sales and commercial issues. Mentoring team members will also be part of this role.
You will work closely with the Executive General Manager, Workforce Solutions A/NZ and the Equifax General Counsel A/NZ to advise the business in the drafting, reviewing and negotiation of a wide range of new and existing customer contracts, including on-line standard terms, data commercialisation agreements, confidentiality agreements, IT agreements, license agreements, consultancy agreements, alliance, agency and joint venture agreements.
As part of this role, you will also coordinate with the Equifax Data Privacy and Equifax Workforce Solutions legal and compliance teams in the U.S., U.K. and Canada to seek to capitalise on and adapt existing knowledge, vision and proven go-to-market strategies for the local market, as well as the External Affairs Team to develop constructive relationships with all applicable industry regulators (including the OAIC, ACCC, ASIC, AFCA, AFSA, ACMA, Austrac and the AEC), industry associations (including ARCA, AFIA and ADMA) and consumer advocacy bodies, as required, in order to advise the business on the impact of potential changes in the regulatory landscape.
What experience do you need? Minimum 8 years experience as a commercial lawyer in the technology (ideally data) industry, and with experience in financial services.
Must have prior in-house experience with a major corporation, and/or reputable law firm experience.
Extensive experience in drafting, reviewing and negotiation of complex commercial contracts, preferably technology related.
Comprehensive understanding of Data Privacy, Competition and Consumer (preferably consumer credit) Law.
Business focussed individual who appreciates and is able to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with the ability to interpret legal and contractual requirements and provide timely solutions-based legal advice, according to the needs of the business.
Excellent verbal & written communication skills, great interpersonal skills and the ability to work directly with senior management.
Self-starter with the ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team.
