THE ROLE The Senior Legal Counsel will play a critical role in building out and maintaining the legal function at Shippit, preparing the business for its next stage of growth.
This role offers an exciting opportunity to bring leading legal compliance practices and risk processes to a fast-growing and innovative environment.
You will be involved in a broad range of commercial and compliance issues that are central to a technology and logistics scale-up.
Working directly with the Board and C-Suite, you will provide strategic legal support and partner with operational leaders across the business.
Key to success in this role is the ability to drive commercial value from customer and partner relationships while identifying and mitigating risk across the organisation.
This is a hands-on role, reporting directly to our CFO.
It is a permanent position, but we are open to considering applications from suitably qualified candidates who wish to work part-time.
For the right candidate, this role offers a clear pathway to becoming Head of Legal as the business continues to scale.
DAY TO DAY Contract drafting, negotiations and legal advisory in relation to a wide range of business transactionsEnsure compliance with required regulations and lawsBuild out the legal capability in the businessAct as the Company Secretary of the businessMaintain the risk framework, identifying, mitigating and reporting on riskAssist with design, implementation and maintenance of legal policies and proceduresSupport corporate and M&A activity, capital raisings and IPO preparationPREFERRED REQUIREMENTS 7+ years PQE, with a strong law firm foundationLegal qualification and a current practising certificateExperience with Board and Company Secretarial responsibilitiesDemonstrated Venture Capital and / or Corporate M&A experienceSolid communication skills and an ability to break down and articulate complex issues to a non-legal audienceExperience confidently running legal negotiationsGood understanding of corporate governance processes and proceduresStrong commercial acumen and an ability to come up with pragmatic solutionsLegal experience in SaaS / subscription companies and technology / logistics sectors is a plusExperience with IP and privacy regulations would be beneficialLIFE AT SHIPPIT * Flexible hybrid- ability to mix your working week between The Shippit office and your home office
