About the Role We're seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to join our Legal Business Operations Team which supports our wagering, gaming, media and regulatory operations.
You will provide broad legal support across these operations as well as acting as the principal legal advisor on assigned projects and initiatives.
Your key focus will be to ensure the protection and representation of Tabcorp's interests by delivering informed, independent advice aligned with the organization's strategy and commercial objectives.
Therefore, you will: provide high-quality legal advice to assist the business in compliance with laws, regulations, and contractual obligations; engage in contract negotiation and drafting, focusing on high-quality, commercially oriented legal documentation; partner with the Deputy General Counsels and the Legal, Regulatory, and Risk teams to provide timely legal guidance on regulatory, commercial, and litigation matters; identify legal issues and risks, developing solutions to balance commercial interests and regulatory requirements; mentor and guide more junior team members on various legal tasks; and build strong relationships across the organization to influence and support stakeholders in managing legal risks.
This is a broad and critical role seeing you operate across high-value business matters ranging across regulatory issues through to wagering agreements and media rights across.
What You'll Bring To succeed in this role, you'll be an accomplished legal counsel with a proven track record of providing commercially focused, pragmatic, and effective legal advice in support of business operations.
You'll have developed this experience either in private practice and/or within a large and highly regulated corporate environment.
You'll also possess: strong contract negotiation and drafting skills; proven ability to offer commercially focused legal services; excellent communication and influencing skills; ability to guide and mentor more junior team members; familiarity with highly regulated industries; and interest or experience in the racing, wagering, gaming and media industries is highly regarded but not essential.
