We are now seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to join our legal team, reporting to the Head of Legal and providing legal advice, governance, and support to the operational and corporate teams within BUMA.
Key Responsibilities: Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts with customers, suppliers, and partners Provision of expert legal advice, information, briefs, and other documents to ensure BUMA meets its contractual, statutory, and regulatory requirements Review and provision of advice to internal clients regarding compliance and statutory obligations and ensuring appropriate risk management mechanisms are in place Interpretation of contracts and advice on contractual disputes Preparing information and briefing papers for BUMA management Development of BUMA company policies and procedures Mentoring, guidance, and supervision of Legal Counsel, paralegal, and administrative staff Managing complex legal matters such as arbitration and litigation including document discovery Managing and providing instructions to external legal service providers Providing support to the Quality, Risk, and Assurance Manager with respect to governance, risk, and compliance matters Participating in the delivery of compliance training to BUMA employees About you: 8+ years' post-admission experience in a commercial setting Ability to hold an Unrestricted Practising Certificate issued by a State Law Society Understanding of construction, mining, resources, or related industries Well-developed interpersonal skills with extensive experience in commercial negotiations Proven ability to manage large complex legal matters including instructing external legal service providers To be considered for this opportunity please click "Apply Now" to submit your application!
