JS Careers is partnering with a new Australian multi-billion dollar investment management firm who are looking for a Senior Legal Counsel at the Director level. Based in Brisbane, this position will play a pivotal role in supporting major transactions and direct investments nationally. Furthermore, the role will also provide broad commercial legal support across the firm.
Our client is seeking someone from an M&A, Private Equity or VC legal background either from a relevant practice group or an equivalent in-house role.
Key responsibilities will include:
Provide oversight and legal advice on all aspects of the firms' investments nationally, which includes the review and negotiation of transaction documents, liaising with external counsel, managing conflicts, and providing advice on corporate governance.
Provide advice and insight into potential investments from a legal perspective including investment structuring, acquisitions, dispositions and any portfolio management issues.
Providing support across corporate functions of the firm and providing advice on broader regulatory obligations impacting the business.
Required experience and qualifications :
At least 8+ years of experience as a Corporate Lawyer operating in an investment management firm, or major law firm;
Suitable candidates must possess extensive experience in M&A transactions (acquisitions and divestments), Private Equity or VC;
Excellent knowledge of the regulatory landscape pertaining to funds management in Australia;
Strong attention to detail and the ability to be able to operate at a strategic level, as well as enthusiasm to be involved in day-to-day matters;
Excellent communication skills with the ability to be able to interact effectively at all levels within the organisation;
Comfortable working in an environment that is entrepreneurial, and fast-paced;
Strong ability to be able to prioritise and multiple demands and projects.
