Lead excellence in remote, rural, and Indigenous healthContinuing Part time position - 7.25 hpwExcellent benefits including generous super and leave loadingLocated in Cairns where you can have a tropical lifestyle and a career!Academic Level B: $106,593 - $125,774+ 17% superannuation contributions.Academic Level C: $129,607 - 148,787 + 17% superannuation contributions.James Cook University (JCU) is creating a brighter future for life in the Tropics and beyond, through education and research that makes a difference locally and globally.We now have an exciting opportunity for a Lecturer / Senior Lecturer, Pathology to join our team at the Cairns Clinical School within the College of Medicine and Dentistry based in the Cairns CBD.ABOUT THE ROLEStarting in early 2025 you will contribute to curriculum development, teaching and assessment of Pathology for medical students in year 4 of the MBBS program at Cairns City Campus. You will develop and implement the pathology component of the Year 4 program for Cairns, in conjunction with other academic staff in Cairns, and the Townsville based staff of Anatomy and Pathology. This involves providing interactive teaching in Pathology to Year 4 students at the end of each system-based learning session. You will assist with assessment and exams and liaise with other academic staff with regard to individual student performance.QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCEEssentialEligibility for registration as a medical practitioner within Australia.Substantial clinical experience in pathology.Demonstrated understanding of issues relevant to the provision of academic and clinical services in rural and regional areasDemonstrated record of teaching and assessment at the undergraduate levelHighly developed written and oral communication skills and the ability to contribute to a multi-disciplinary environment.DesirableDemonstrated understanding of issues relevant to the provision of academic and clinical services in rural and remote areas.Demonstrated experience or skills in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander paediatric health care.ABOUT THE COLLEGE OF MEDICINE AND DENTISTRYThe College of Medicine and Dentistry enhances health and strengthens healthcare in northern Australia and beyond by providing socially accountable health professional education, fostering research, building partnerships, and advocating for improved care.
