The Curtin Medical School is seeking a highly skilled and passionate Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor in Clinical Biochemistry to join our dynamic and collegial team within the Laboratory Medicine discipline.
Your new role    This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the growth and development of our AIMS-accredited Laboratory Medicine degree, as well as our broader Biomedical Science programs.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to teach, innovate and drive research in the field of Clinical Biochemistry, collaborating with a vibrant research community and engaging with industry partners in Western Australia's medical science sector.
As a Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor, you will be responsible for developing and delivering curriculum, coordinating units, and supervising students at various levels.
You will also contribute to advancing research in Clinical Biochemistry and collaborate with industry partners to support applied research initiatives.

Key Responsibilities: Teaching and Curriculum Development: Lead the development, coordination, and delivery of units in Clinical Biochemistry within our Laboratory Medicine and Biomedical Science programs.
Research Leadership: Conduct and lead research in Clinical Biochemistry, publishing high-quality, peer-reviewed articles, and contributing to a growing national and international research profile.
Industry Engagement: Engage with industry partners and stakeholders to develop funding proposals and support the translation of research into practice.
Mentorship and Collaboration: Provide leadership and mentorship to early-career academic staff, supervise Higher Degree by Research (HDR) students, and contribute to the broader academic community within the Curtin Medical School.

Selection Criteria: Qualifications: Industry-accredited qualifications in Clinical Biochemistry (e.g., AACB Fellowship or equivalent), and a PhD in Clinical Biochemistry or a closely related field.
Teaching Experience: Proven ability to teach and develop curriculum in Clinical Biochemistry, with a reflective and innovative approach to teaching.
Experience in coordinating units and engaging in accreditation processes is highly desirable.
Research Expertise: Established track record of research in Clinical Biochemistry, including publications in high-quality, refereed academic journals.
Evidence of securing research funding (e.g., national/international grants) and developing an established national and growing international reputation.
Leadership: Demonstrated leadership skills, including the ability to lead curriculum initiatives, mentor junior staff, and supervise HDR students.
Communication & Collaboration: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a cross-cultural and interdisciplinary environment.
Proven ability to foster a collegial, supportive, and collaborative work environment.
