Details of the offer

The purpose of this position is to deliver high quality legal services for QBCC.
Responsibilities Deliver high quality advocacy services in administrative review and disciplinary proceedings in the Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal, judicial review and other proceedings in the Supreme Court, and appellant proceedings in the Queensland Civil and Administrative Appeals Tribunal and the Court of Appeal.
Conduct litigation matters to which the QBCC is a party, including managing a legal case load, preparing litigation plans, and developing complex or sensitive legal documents including statements of reasons, applications, witness statements, briefs, submissions and correspondence.
Provide specialist legal advice relevant to the statutory functions of the QBCC by researching issues or reviewing legislation and policies and offering appropriate strategies and actions.
Assist in the professional development of the legal team by contributing to a continuing legal education program.
Cultivate effective working relationships within, and supporting senior members of, the QBCC's Legal Services Unit.
Cultivate effective working relationships with internal clients and key stakeholders to foster a cooperative approach to achieving the QBCC's aims.
Provide exceptional customer service to internal and external QBCC stakeholders.
Candidate Attributes Demonstrated litigation experience, including advocacy, preferably related to government and preferably within administrative law or civil litigation.
Ability to undertake legal research and analysis to produce high quality, practical legal advice on issues of law, practice and policy.
High level interpersonal skills including written and oral communications and the ability to apply negotiation and mediation skills.
Proven capacity to deliver exceptional customer service to internal and external stakeholders.
Other Requirements Admission, or eligible for admission, as a solicitor or barrister of the Supreme Court of Queensland.
Holder of a current practicing certificate issued by the Queensland Law Society or Queensland Bar Association or ability to obtain one.
Fully compliant with all CPD requirements of the Queensland Law Society Queensland Bar Association.
