The Act, together with the Long Service Benefits Portability Regulations 2020, provide a Portable Long Service Benefits Scheme. The Authority plays an important role in allowing workers in the community services, contract cleaning, and security industries to build up long service benefits based on time in their industry rather than with a single employer. We foster an inclusive and collaborative culture that celebrates achievements and allows everyone to contribute to our success.About the roleReporting to the Managing Principal Lawyer, the Senior Lawyer's role is to provide accurate and practical legal advice to support the Portable Long Service Authority's effective administration of the Long Service Portability Act 2018 (Vic). This is a key trusted advisory role embedded in the business supporting operations and other parts of the Authority to ensure operational processes and decisions are founded in sound legal reasoning while also meeting corporate objectives. This role will focus on advising on matters related to compliance and enforcement but will also be required to advise on a diverse range of matters to all different business units. You will also work closely with the Lawyer and Legal Support Officer to provide advice and mentorship where required. There is a requirement to regularly attend the Bendigo head office, with flexibility to work some days at the Docklands office and work from home two days per week.About youAs the Senior Lawyer, you will be an experienced legal practitioner with extensive experience in criminal law. You will take a sound and proactive approach to the interpretation and application of our governing legislation and associated regulations.
