To provide the Tourism, Services and Hospitality division with high-quality legal services regarding commercial matters (excluding Tied and Supervised work performed only by Solicitor for the Northern Territory).Context Statement:
The division includes Tourism NT, Licensing NT, and Screen Territory.
This position will address a broad range of commercial matters, including advice on procurement, contracts, funding agreements, intellectual property, and privacy matters.Key Duties and Responsibilities:Provide legal advice and representation on major and complex matters; deliver timely, accurate, and well-researched advice.Act as a source of advice and guidance to staff on legal matters, assisting with drafting non-legal documents.Maintain a high level of knowledge and expertise in relevant areas of law, practices, and procedures.Communicate effectively, prepare and present legal concepts clearly, and liaise professionally with clients.Manage a large caseload, organizing work to manage priorities and meet deadlines.Seek advice from the Solicitor for the Northern Territory on complex matters beyond this role's remit.Selection Criteria:Essential:Admission as an Australian legal practitioner and eligibility for an unrestricted local practising certificate.Quality experience in legal practice in relevant commercial law fields.Proven experience in organizing and managing a personal legal practice involving complex cases.Sound drafting skills and ability to negotiate complex agreements professionally.Ability to manage files to meet client needs and deadlines, cope with pressure, and work as part of a team.Desirable:Knowledge of the Territory, its laws, and government workings.6-8 years post-admission legal practice experience in a relevant field.Further Information:
